Laura Humphrys is a researcher interested in all things surrounding G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology, particularly in the translation between structure to biochemistry to (patho)physiology. Her career started with an integrated undergraduate masters in neuroscience between the University of Nottingham, UK and the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (University of Melbourne), Australia. Following this, Laura was awarded the A J Clark PhD studentship from the British Pharmacological Society to work on light activated GPCRs as a pharmacological tool at the University of Nottingham. After being awarded her PhD, Laura’s first postdoctoral position was in the Medicinal Chemistry department at the University of Regensburg, Germany where she led a project on targeting orphan GPCRs with engineered peptides. She is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Melbourne, Australia where Laura is developing techniques for studying native class B GPCRs as pharmacological targets.
